About the event
Join Book Society when we welcome local authors Nana Brew-Hammond and Carol Jameson in conversation about the intricacies of relationships as they unfold in their respective works of fiction My Parents’ Marriage and Adam and Leonora. Plus, an exclusive opportunity to shop from Nana's fashion line, Exit 14.
My Parents’ Marriage explores a timeline of marriages in one Ghanaian family through two of the three legal types in Ghana–Customary and Ordinance. The narrative takes readers on a journey through nuanced tensions between tradition, colonial influence and modernity with storytelling that is illuminating, warm and bittersweet. It is a compelling story of family, community, class and self-identity.
Adam and Leonora is a novel layered with romantic escapades and philosophical musings on art and life that takes readers on a journey through different places and historical moments in time–from New York to Paris, Mexico and Los Angeles. Fans of surrealism will delight in her storytelling!
